There are several Great Barrier Reef dive courses, including introductory courses, advanced courses, rescue diving courses and professional dive courses.

Open Water Course

With Open Water scuba diving courses, you’ll learn the first step to scuba diving at the best place in the World– the Great Barrier Reef.

You’ll learn the basics of diving to enjoy an underwater scuba diving adventure in no time.

Upon completing the open water, you’ll receive your Open Water Diver license, so you will be able to continue exploring the best aquatic locations in the World.

We offer two fantastic options, one with PADI and the other with SSI. Both companies are internationally recognised.

 

Learn to dive on the Great Barrier Reef

SSI

Our SSI course suits the adventurous traveller. Training on an SSI Diamond Facility. This course on the Great Barrier Reef over a minimum of 3 days. With a maximum of 4 students per dive instructor, this course is onboard Reef Encounter’s liveaboard vessel.

Guests have two types of accommodation Top Deck Club and Stateroom.

PADI

With this four-day training, you can still enjoy the liveaboard experience even if you don’t have time for our popular five-day programme. Only one mandatory day of practical training is required at our Prodive Cairns PADI Five Star Dive, which visitors may do ahead of their arrival in Cairns via online eLearning.

Professional dive crew will conduct training dives during our three-day, two-night liveaboard trip to the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef is the best spot to learn how to scuba dive because of the year-round warm water, moderate current, and excellent visibility.

The gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns is the ideal location to begin scuba diving lessons. Classes are limited to eight students. You’ll learn to dive and receive a PADI certification during your four-day Open Water dive course, which experienced and personable instructors teach. Find out more

 Advanced 

Advanced Dive courses are also available and are among the most popular as you’ll benefit from deeper and longer dives.

You’ll visit several top reef locations while staying on the luxury Reef Encounter vessel.

You’ll sharpen your scuba diving skills and have all the accommodations you need for the perfect scuba diving getaway.

PADI also has an option that certified divers can add to the three days onboard liveaboard one of the three Scubapro vessels that regularly depart Cairns.

 Stress and Rescue 

If you want to make the most of your diving trip, Stress and Rescue dive courses are available by highly trained dive professionals.

You’ll have both in-water and academic training onboard the Reef Encounter vessel.

Upon completing the courses, you’ll be an SSI Dive Master or SSI Dive Control Specialist.

Refresher Dive Course

Refresher courses are another option available when diving the Great Barrier Reef.

If you need to fine-tune your scuba diving skills before plunging into the water, you can practice essential diving skills with a lead diver.

After a brief refresher course, you’ll be well on your way to diving, the World’s most highly sought diving destination.
