Christmas Tree Worm

What’s even more fascinating about Christmas tree worms is that they can live for decades in the same coral home! Once they settle down as tiny larvae, they build a hard, protective tube inside the coral, which becomes their lifelong residence. You’ll often find several of these worms living side by side, each one adding a splash of colour to the reef. It’s just another reminder of how wonderfully diverse and surprising the Great Barrier Reef is—every time you visit, there’s something new and magical to discover beneath the surface.
